Editorial: The Marriage of Movies and Games

Picture 1Today marks the release of Watchmen to DVD and Blu-ray, but what does this have to do with gamers? Well, today also brings the release of Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Compete Experience. This PS3 game includes The End is Nigh parts 1 and 2 as well as the Director’s cut of the film. I, personally, think that is pretty awesome.

So many of the movies that come out these days have games that correspond and, frankly, I am amazed that no one has thought of this before. In short. I think releasing games and movies together, in the same packaging, is a brilliant idea. Granted, most of  the games based on movies out there are pretty rubbish, but there are some good ones. It’s also very convenient to be able to pay one fee for both items, just a few extra dollars and you get a game to go with that movie… or rather, a movie to go with that game.

  1. I think it’s a good idea as long as I can still choose to purchase them separately.

  2. I already had the blu-ray version preordered on Amazon until I noticed this package was coming out. I immediately canceled my Amazon preorder and did it at my store.

  3. I’d really like to see more things like this. It only seems natural to combine movies and the games based upon them in a single package, and it is a wonder no one seems to have done it before.
