Editorial: Thoughts on a Couple Demos

As I’ve had no money/time/interest to play anything new this past week I have nothing real to review.  Considering Shawn is being a brat and objecting to my amazing, wonderful awesome previous post, I have decided to give my thoughts on a couple demos I have been playing a lot of recently.

1. Crackdown 2 – On Monday a demo for Crackdown 2 was released that allows players thirty minutes  to run around the open world of Pacific City (although an exploit has already been found that gets rid of the thirty minute time limit).  I was a big fan of the first game and the sequel seems to just be more of the same.  Not that there is anything wrong with that, mind you.  Just over the top, superhero-esque action, which is something we all need in our lives from time to time.  So far the demo looks like this might be a game that is worth picking up when it released in early July.

2. LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 – Veteran listeners of our podcast know that I have a soft spot in my heart for the LEGO games.  They are always fun, lighthearted and you basically just smash LEGO pieces for twenty hours, what more can one ask for?  The newest installment in the series released on July 29th and the demo shows that it is just as fun as one would expect.  The addition of magic powers for your wizards is a nice touch, as it adds more puzzle elements when trying to figure out what spell is necessary to continue through the level.  Another interesting addition is the amount of characters players can use when going through the story mode.  Previous LEGO games limited the player to two characters, whereas LEGO Harry Potter allows players to use three and sometimes even four characters to progress through the levels.  Hagrid’s dog Fang is even a playable character, used mainly to dig up hidden LEGO pieces, he even knows tricks like a real dog.  I was on the fence about the game before playing the demo, but my time with it made me want the game right away.

So my questions to you, my dearest of doves, are these: what demos have you been playing lately that you really enjoy?  Have you played either of the ones previous mentioned?  Are you excited for either games, or do you think I am an idiot with horrible taste?  Tell me in the comments!  Also, tell Shawn that my previous post should stay up!

  1. This post was void of any real information about farts. Please try to maintain your prestigious reputation as the number one source for fart review.

  2. The Crackdown 2 demo’s actually currently downloading on my 360. I throughly enjoyed the first Crackdown, so I’ve got high hopes for the sequel. Plus, 4-player co-op shoudl be a blast.

I’m also downloading the War for Cybertron demo. I honestly didn’t realize this game was so close to release, but the reviews have been pretty positive so far, so I’m looking forward to giving it a shot over the weekend. Plus, the soundtrack has Stan Bush song! It might be surprisingly full of win for a licensed game.

  3. Monday was a good day for farts. I ate a lot of sausage. Tuesday was an excellent day for farts. I had some of that hot queso cheese for lunch and HOOBOY. They were rank! Wednesday was a fair day for farts on account of some of the previous day’s queso cheese still hanging around in there. Thursday and Friday were not very good days for farts at all. I ate way too much fiber. On Saturday and Sunday, though, it was an awesome day for farts. I drank beer all day both days, and I was like a one-man brass band! Overall, I’d say this was a good week for farts.

  4. I really enjoyed the Transformers: War for Cybertron demo that a played a day before it’s release. It confirmed my decision to buy it.
