What does one get for the Mario Kart fan who has everything? Nintendo may have just answered this question for the ages with their announcement this week of the creation of life-size replicas of Mario and Luigi’s karts, as seen in this popular gaming franchise.

Nintendo has teamed up with West Coast Customs (of Pimp My Ride fame) in order to create these full-scale replicas to commemorate the release of Mario Kart 7 on the 4th of December. The karts are currently on display in the lobby of the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center whereat visitors may take their photos with the life-size models and demo Mario Kart 7. Subsequently, the karts are to be given away to members of the Gamestop PowerUp Rewards program as part of their monthly Epic Reward Giveaway to customers who make a purchase or trade-in during the month of December.

Nintendo has noted that while the karts’ various propellor and glider attachments allow their in-game equivalents to take wing and/or submerge in large bodies of water, these real-life karts sadly are not possessed of that kind of functionality – and should not be used as such.
