  1. Cool, I won something! I do love Tolkien.

On a side note, I don’t get Nintendo suggesting they would get out of the home console market after the Switch. Seems counter intuitive, but it is Nintendo.

  2. Congrats RabidKitten (and Disa, and everyone else!) Everyone’s a winner!

The comments made by Nintendo were taken a little out of context, actually. It’s primarily investor reassurance that Nintendo is capable of being flexible and setting aside a focus on new console development for a time if it would be wiser to pursue a greater devotion to game development and distribution across their own (and mobile) platforms. It doesn’t signify any change right now, only the possibility of some kind of unspecified change in focus should it be useful in future.

…But because there is a contingent of people out there who have been and still are screaming their heads off that Nintendo should make games for smart phones, even really mundane, run-of-the-mill commentary like this gets hyped up into “Nintendo is ditching consoles for smartphones!!!!!111”

(I don’t know why anyone who actually likes Nintendo games would be particularly eager for Nintendo to make more smartphone games given the quality and type of games they’ve realised on mobile, but here we are, anyway.)

  3. People love throwing money at Nintendo. Those Nintendonlies can’t get enough, it’s why they gobble up all the smartphone titles.
